After a first large model with the lean but weak Xemics chipset then a second large model with the powerful but power hungry SiRFstarIII chipset, here comes the Qstarz BT-Q815 a more compact version of the original solar GPS with the powerful and lean MTK
chipset.
The Q815 is a bit larger than their Qstarz family model, most likely to accommodate the solar panel.
It was a concern that q815 panel might interfere with the patch antenna, but it isn't the case with performance being just as impressive as other
"brother and sisters", with fast TTFF, very accurate tracking and very good multipath mitigation. Slight letdown compared to the
Qstarz BT-Q818 is the lack of auto-on for Bluetooth, meaning you'll have to depress the power button to get it started again.
The impressive 51 Channels platform allows you to lock into satellites
within 36 seconds and the Dual-Power supply - Solar power panel allows you to
navigate continuously for 35 hours and above. Qstarz BT-Q815 is a great device
in such sunshine country like Singapore and Malaysia.
